Mobility

On the road to the future

Cars and trains provide mobility that we generally take for granted – mobility that is continuously making technical advancements. And gases are contributing to that success.

Modern cars are loaded with technology. This helps us move from place to place more comfortably, more securely and more sustainably. Take modern xenon headlights, for example, or welding and cutting as applied to body panels in general. A combination of several different gases is used to fill airbags, including helium, argon and oxygen. Hydrogen drive systems may assure tomorrow’s mobility.

In local public transportation, liquid nitrogen helps prepare new connections: when extending subway networks, the extremely cold gas is used to freeze the ground in order to provide stability and prevent water ingress.
